Silverado 1500 vs Ford F-150

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 vs. Ford F-150: Which Full-Size Truck Offers the Best Value?

Full-size pickups are immensely popular these days, as many drivers appreciate their capability, comfort, and convenience. The new Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a major player among half-ton trucks because of its brawny engines and handy technology. The new Ford F-150 has a slightly higher towing capacity, but it can't match the overall value for the money that you get with the Silverado 1500. At Peach Chevrolet GMC in Brewton, AL, we're happy to compare both trucks to help you make your own decision.

Engines and Efficiency

The new Chevy Silverado 1500 offers four engine options to get the power or efficiency you prefer. An available turbodiesel engine generates 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet or torque. Mobile, AL commuters who wish to spend less time at the fuel pump will appreciate that this engine achieves up to 28 mpg on the highway.

The new Ford F-150 gives you a choice of six engines, but no turbodiesel powertrain. Its most efficient powerplant earns 25 mpg on the highway.

Handling

When driving the Chevy Silverado 1500, it feels like it's smaller than it is, with a decently small turning radius, confident braking, and relatively tight steering. This makes it more pleasant to drive on twisty roads in Monroeville, AL than most full-size trucks.

The Ford F-150 has numbed steering and a larger turning circle than the Silverado 1500, making it more cumbersome to drive around corners.

Technology

With the right infotainment system, long drives from Pensacola, FL are more enjoyable. The Chevy Silverado 1500 provides a 13.4-inch infotainment touchscreen in LT trims and higher. This unit comes with Google-based navigation and a voice control system that makes it a breeze to operate while driving.

The Ford F-150 only offers one infotainment setup - a 12-inch touchscreen that doesn't have Google built-in.
